Our History

July 1987 As the names suggests, Randwick Bloodstock Agency commences operations in Randwick, Sydney. From it's inception the agency is run by Brett Howard.

January 1996 Rachael Theaker arrives from England and is employed by the Agency. Prior to her arrival in Australia, Rachael had spent the previous three years based in London working for well respected agent Luke Lillingston.

February 2000 Brett commences full time employment with Coolmore Stud, Jerrys Plains, NSW, in Sales and Nominations.

March 2000 Brett and Rachael marry. In the same month, the agency re-locates to Coolmore Stud. During the period March 2000 to September 2006, the company remains active under Rachael's guidance.

October 2006 Brett returns to the Agency full time. The Agency re-locates to a 50 acre property at Quorrobolong in the NSW Hunter Valley.

What we have achieved

Today the company is one of Australia's leading bloodstock agencies. We are a full service bloodstock agency, however, we are most active in the area of private sales of breeding stock.

We have bought horses from and sold horses to many countries including the USA, Canada, England, Ireland, France, Italy, New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, etc, etc.

Our Aims Are:

  • To provide our clients with the best possible service available for all their bloodstock transactions.
  • To offer obligation free and unbiased advice and do our best to understand the needs and wants of our clients.
  • To establish a long lasting relationship with all our clients, buyers and sellers alike.
  • To conduct business in an ethical and integral manner.

Office Location

Our office is situated at Quorrobolong, in the lower Hunter Valley. We are approximately 10 minutes south of Cessnock and 1.5 hours drive north-west from the Sydney CBD. Most of Australia's major thoroughbred stud farms are within 1-2 hours proximity.

Fees & Charges*

  • Sales up to and including $100,000 - commission rate = 8% + GST

  • Sales over $100,000 - $8,000 + GST, plus 6% + GST thereafter for the remaining balance.

  • Auction sale representation. We attend most William Inglis & Son, Magic Millions and NZ Bloodstock yearling and broodmare sales. If you would like assistance at any sale, please call us to discuss your requirements. For horses $30,000 and below, our fee is a flat $1,000+GST per horse. For horses over $30,000, our fee is 3%+GST of the purchase price. If no horses are purchased on your behalf, we do not charge a fee. We are also happy to discuss the possibility of charging a flat fee for auction sales work, whether or not a horse/s are purchased at the sale.

  • * All fees are subject to 10% GST if the horse is located in Australia.
