Randwick Bloodstock presently operates a sixty-five acre broodmare farm under the banner “Glenesk Thoroughbreds” at Mount Vincent, 15 minutes south-east of Cessnock, in the lower Hunter Valley. The farm is managed by Rachael Howard. The farming arm of the operation was initially established in 2008 at Randwick Bloodstock’s original property at nearby Quorrobolong. The Mount Vincent property was purchased in 2016 and operations have continued there since that time. Each breeding season the farm walks out approximately 25 mares to the Upper Hunter stallion farms. Since commencement our annual mare pregnancy rate is running at over 90%. If you could be interested in sending us a mare/s either permanent or seasonal please call Rachael or Brett Howard on (02) 4938 0011 or email email@example.com.

Glenesk Thoroughbreds Sales Consignment
We also offer owners the option of preparing and consigning their racehorses and broodmares to public auctions in Sydney and the Gold Coast. In May 2016 Glenesk Thoroughbreds (As agent) sold Group 1 winning race filly PRECIOUS GEM for $825,000 to China Horse Club at the 2016 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. At the completion of the sale our select consignment averaged $196,875 for 8 lots sold – Top 5 consignor by average (More than 5 lots sold). Thank you to Millford Thoroughbreds for trusting us with PRECIOUS GEM and we wish China Horse Club the best of luck with her going forward.
In May 2015 Glenesk Thoroughbreds consigned their first ever draft at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. Comprising of 8 mares, we ended the sale with 7 sold, and an average sale price of $299,643 – the 2nd highest average at the sale (6 or more sold). Undoubtedly the highlight came for us early on Day 1 when Champion Sprinting filly VILLA VERDE (by NOT A SINGLE DOUBT) sold for $1.1 million to James Bester Bloodstock, acting for Kia-Ora Stud. An amazing result for our first ever lot through the Magic Millions sale ring. Thank you to Robbie Willis and Mike Buys for entrusting your wonderful mare to us, and we wish Kia Ora Stud the very best with her future.
What else happened?
The ‘good luck’ story of FINE CUBAN continues as her first born RUMBA QUEEN (By I AM INVINCIBLE), born and raised at Glenesk Thoroughbreds, debuts a Brisbane winner for Tony Gollan and Surace Bloodstock. A beautiful filly and great result for her breeder Col Williams (see below), she matches her good looks with plenty of ability. Col and RBA will watch her career with great excitement.
2015 got off to a fantastic start at January’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Premier Yearling Sale for RBA client Col Williams, when his I AM INVINCIBLE x FINE CUBAN filly (pictured below) sold to Blue Sky Bloodstock/B2B Bloodstock for $280,000. Quite a handy result for Col seeing he purchased FINE CUBAN off the track through RBA for $10,000, mated her on RBA’s advice to I AM INVINCIBLE for $7,700 for her first season at stud, and then this filly was the end result. Once again, a big thanks to Senga Bissett & Ivan Woodford-Smith and their team at Ashleigh Thoroughbreds for taking this filly for the last 6 months prior to the sale. FINE CUBAN (by FLYING SPUR) is back in foal to CHARGE FORWARD. Both Col and ourselves are keen to see if she can reproduce another cracker in 2015.
What happened in 2014?
At the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale (Book 1), our farm was represented by two yearlings which had been foaled, weaned and raised here until July 2013 before they were sent to two other Hunter Valley farms (Yarraman Park & Ashleigh Thoroughbreds) to be prepared and consigned for the MM sale. The first of the two horses to be offered, a Hinchinbrook x Skyescent colt realised $160,000, the buyer being Denise Martin’s Star Thoroughbreds and he will head to Chris Waller. The second, a Denman x Street Sign filly (pictured above) sold for $300,000 (at the time a record price for Denman) to Gai Waterhouse/James Harron. RBA thanks our clients Richard Allen and Ian Wunsch for their support, as well as Yarraman Park and Ashleigh Thoroughbreds for their first class work.
In March we received a call from Brisbane trainer Liam Birchley, “Can you please look after Emmalene and get her ready for May’s Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale?” Sure Liam, no problems. Emmalene (by Jet Spur), a Melbourne Listed winner of just over $251,000, had just been retired off the track after finishing unplaced in a Group 3 race at Randwick. Just over 2 months later, she appeared at the Gold Coast sale with the Randwick Bloodstock spit and polish, ie, looking a million dollars. Offered under the Riversdale Farm banner, with selling expectations of $200,000 plus, Emmalene was knocked down to Sydney agent James Harron for $300,000. Thank you to Nick Hodges and his team at Riversdale for their efforts. Another great result for RBA’s clients.
In 2014 foals were delivered by Choisir, Denman, Foxwedge (2), Hinchinbrook (2), Husson, Not A Single Doubt, Sebring, Snippetson, Snitzel (2), Stratum and Your Song. Mares were walked out to All American, Animal Kingdom (2), Charge Forward, Choisir (6 – best value proven sire in Australia), Denman, Epaulette (4 – yes, we’re pretty keen on his chances), Foxwedge (2), I Am Invincible, Myboycharlie, Sepoy, Shamus Award, Sizzling, The Factor, Your Song (2) and Zoustar.
What happened in 2013?
In 2013 we had mares foal to stallions such as Choisir (2), Commands (2), I Am Invincible (3), Mossman, Northern Meteor (2), Starcraft (3) and Snitzel. They were walked out to stallions like All Too Hard, Choisir, Commands, Denman, Foxwedge, Hinchinbrook, Sebring, Sepoy and Your Song. In 2012 the owners of the multiple stakes winning General Nediym mare Paprika sent her to us to be covered by Sepoy (tested in foal). In early 2013 we were instructed to prepare her for the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale (late May). Several days prior the auction Paprika was sent to Yarraman Park who were to consign her at the sale. We watched with great delight as the bidding rocketed past $400,000, then past $500,000, finally being knocked down to Coolmore Stud for $550,000.
