Manager Required
Brett and Rachael Howard of Randwick Bloodstock Agency are looking to employ someone to help manage their 50 acre farm at Quorrobolong, 10 minutes south of Cessnock, in the Lower Hunter Valley. The property has been recently refurbished with new fences, stables, etc, and is designed to carry up to approximately 40 horses. Stock on the farm will be broodmares (dry and wet), race fillies and race mares off the track and some spellers (females only).
Apart from managing the farm and its horses, the Manager will also be required to assist Randwick Bloodstock sales staff in respect of selling the bloodstock residing on the property. They will also be required to prepare horses for sale and accompany those horses to auctions. The applicant must have:
- Very good horse skills.
- Experience in broodmare management, foaling, weaning, etc, at a senior level is desirable, or a person that has this experience on a commercial stud and who is ready to step up into a managerial role would be considered.
- Experience with racehorses and racehorse spelling is preferred but not essential.
- General farming skills (pasture management, fencing, etc) is preferred but not essential.
- A good overview of the bloodstock market and the industry as a whole is preferred but not essential.
- A good knowledge of thoroughbred pedigrees is preferred but not essential.
- Able to work in a small team environment.
- Good communication skills.
- A current Driver’s Licence.
Remuneration to reflect the level of experience and knowledge the successful applicant brings with them to the position. If required, on farm accommodation is available.
